World Vision Ghana, a Non- Governmental Organisation, NGO, today, cuts sod for the construction of a 2000 capacity poultry farm worth $74,778 which is about ₵434,000.00 in the Fanteakwa south district in the eastern region.

The said poultry farm is to serve as an income generating venture to support the Saamang KIA GREEN Health center, a facility built and financed by the KIA motors with World Vision Ghana as a facilitator.

In a short ceremony today at the KIA Green Health Center, the representative of the community (Saamang) Mr Kyeremateng expressed his gratitude and revealed the purpose of the gathering while embracing the initiative.

“We are gathered here today for the important project of building a poultry farm that can house two thousand chickens. All we did was to provide the land and we have done that because the poultry farm will provide a lot of employment for the citizenry. We are grateful to World Vision and its donors.” – Mr Kyeremateng said.

However, the district director of health in Fanteakwa South district, Mr Eric Atuahene Agyemang added that the poultry farm will also help reduce malnutrition in the community.

“This project has come to reduce the malnutrition levels in the community. Though the main objective is to generate money but if you check the underlining principles, malnutrition will be reduced since we will patronise the produce.” Mr Atuahene Agyeman added.

Moreover, the cluster manager for World Vision, Mr Christopher Teye revealed that they expect the project to be completed in the next four or five months. He again revealed that they are spending about

“Apart from it bringing income it is going benefit a lot of people in the community. We are going to spend about $74,778 which is about ₵434,000 to make sure that project activities are implemented. We are also hopeful that with the commencement of activities, within four to five months it will be completed.” – Christopher Teye revealed.

In attendance were the district chief executive, Hon. Kwasi Ntori Adjabeng, the district Agric Director, Wisdom K Kumah, staff of KIA Green Health Center, District assembly, members and leaders of the community.
