The 2018 national best farmer, Mr James Obeng Boateng has commended the government for the various interventions being put in place to make farming more attractive to everyone in the country.

He stated the planting for food and jobs planting, planting for export and rural development, the provision of improve seeds and subsidized fertilisers and many others are all steps in the right direction. However, government must make it a point to provide enabling environment for marketing opportunities and realistic pricing system for the framers. This he said has become necessary because all the interventions are yielding results but the marketing opportunities remains a big challenge for the farmers and government must act on it with immediate effect.

The 2018 national best farmer Mr James Obeng Boateng made this comments when the Deputy Minister for local government, Mr. Collins Ntim met stakeholders to discuss with them the impact of covid-19 on Agriculture at Nkoranza South Municipality.

He further stated that any country that has advanced in agriculture has access to markets and guaranteed pricing for farm produce. Hence, the need for government to complement its efforts in the sector with ready markets, guaranteed prices and storage facilities for farm produce.
