Accra, Nov. 13 – QA Consult marks 10 years of promoting quality and food safety with the launch of the Annual Quality Summit. With support from the Ghana Standards Authority and industry experts, the Summit sets the stage for building a quality-driven and globally competitive Ghana.
The landmark event, held under the theme “Advancing Ghana’s Industrial Excellence through Quality and Trust,” brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to chart a new course for quality standards in Ghana’s business ecosystem.
Launching the Annual Quality Summit, the Deputy Director General (General Services) of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Mr. Samuel Jabanyite, underscored the importance of collaboration between regulatory bodies and capacity-building organisations like QA Consult to ensure standards are promoted among Ghanaian businesses.
Stakeholders in industry at the event recognised that while Ghana has numerous policies and regulations on standards, there remains a critical need for practical training and education. They emphasised that entities like QA Consult play a vital role in translating complex standards, particularly in agribusiness, into actionable practices that SMEs can implement.
In a significant development, Mr. Jabanyite assured that the GSA would collaborate closely with QA Consult to promote quality assurance among businesses in Ghana. This partnership promises to strengthen the country’s quality infrastructure and enhance the competitiveness of Ghanaian enterprises both locally and internationally.
In his welcome address, Founder and CEO of QA Consult, Mr. Johnson Opoku-Boateng, reflected on the company’s decade-long mission and the vision that birthed the Annual Quality Summit. He acknowledged that despite Ghana’s commendable industrial progress, challenges such as weak enforcement of standards, fragmented supply chains, and limited collaboration among stakeholders continue to affect the country’s competitiveness.
“If Ghana is to move from a resource-driven to a quality-driven economy, we must make quality and trust the foundation of our growth,” Mr. Opoku-Boateng stated, emphasising that quality is no longer optional but strategic in today’s global marketplace.
He described the Summit as a collective call to action to embed quality as the cornerstone of Ghana’s industrial and economic transformation, noting that it provides a premier space for thought leadership, knowledge exchange, and the sharing of best practices among diverse voices including policymakers, industry experts, entrepreneurs, academia, and development partners.
Speaking on the topic “Quality as a Catalyst for Global Competitiveness, Self-Reliance, and Consumer Confidence,” Chief Executive of Infrastructure Systems Ltd, Ing. Charles K. Boakye, highlighted that quality must become the engine powering Ghana’s transformation. He explained that countries that have achieved sustained growth did so by building strong quality systems that enhance productivity, reduce waste, and elevate the credibility of their goods and services.
Ing. Boakye stressed that when industries adopt rigorous quality practices, they become more competitive in global markets, lessen dependence on imported goods, and strengthen consumer confidence in locally produced products. He noted that Ghana’s path to high-income status will depend not simply on the extraction of natural resources, but on the nation’s commitment to building trust, standards, and excellence across all sectors.

QA Consult’s journey over the past ten years has been marked by an unwavering commitment to promoting quality and food safety standards, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana. The company has worked tirelessly to bridge the gap between regulatory requirements and practical implementation, helping businesses understand that quality assurance is not merely about compliance but must become an integral part of organisational culture.
