The District Chief Executive for Nkoranza North in the Bono East Region, Hon. Gifty Arkosah Author has today through the planting for export and rural development has commenced the distribution of 200,000 cashew seedlings to 2,600 farmers across the Nkoranza north district.
speaking at a mini gathering to commence the distribution she has charged all beneficiary farmers to take this great opportunity in good faith in order not to allow bushfire to destroy the various plantations they have done through the program.

She again indicated that for the past three years the assembly has been supplying the free cashew seedlings to farmers. Madam Gifty Arkosah commended the Nana Addo government for the initiative since it has come at a good time for farmers to benefit from the project.
“This is part of the president’s vision to create jobs and eradicate poverty. Bono East is noted for the growth of cashew and this explains why this particular cashew project is taking place here. The cashew seedlings will be distributed free of charge to all farmers who have shown interest in cashew plantation.” She explained.
Speaking to Nana Agyapong of Dero Fm, the District Extension Officer, Mr. Thomas Appiah stated that the extension officers will ensure that all farmers who have shown interested benefit from the distribution. “This will be distributed throughout the various communities within the district and I am confident that it will go a long way to promote and boost cashew export in the country.” He added.
