According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Plant pests and diseases destroy up to 40% of food crops every year! This if not controlled or managed will go a long way to affect the food security issues world.

The FAO is of the belief that the global food security depends on plant security.

With this, they advise farmers or those in agribusiness to use these four controls in protecting their farmers from pest and diseases

  1. Regularly monitor and report the occurrence of pests and diseases on your farm.
  2. Adopt environmentally friendly practices, such as integrated pest management.
  3. Use mobile apps and digital technology to access information about how to prevent and manage pests and diseases.
  4. Use quality-assured seeds.
