The 2024 edition of Agritech West Africa, with Food & Beverage and FoodPack Tech Ghana exhibition, was launched in Accra today with a call on stakeholders in the agricultural value chain to embrace new technologies and innovations in the sector.

Scheduled to run from March 19th to 21st at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), this year’s edition marks the third in the series since its inception in 2022 and is expected to draw over 100 exhibitors and more than 4000 visitors over the three-day program.

The exhibition, renowned as one of the largest agricultural showcases encompassing various aspects of the agricultural value chain, will feature a diverse array of products, including agrochemicals, agriculture technology, irrigation systems, biofeeds, food processing and packaging technologies, food innovation, processed and packaged food items, and packaging materials.

Launching the event in Accra, Mr. Thomas James, the Project Manager, Agritech West Africa, emphasized that the event promises to be a transformative event for industry players and enthusiasts alike to engage with cutting-edge technologies and discussions aimed at enhancing industrialization and mechanization in the agricultural sector.

The Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Mr. Bagbara Tanko, commended the organizers for consistently introducing new innovations and technologies since the inception of the event in 2022. He emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to mechanizing agriculture, aligning with the government’s emphasis on industrialization, mechanization, and transformation within the agricultural sector.

“The technology showcased at Agritech West Africa plays a pivotal role in driving industrialization, a key focus area for all stakeholders,” Mr. Tanko reiterated. He further noted the event’s alignment with the government’s flagship program, Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ Phase 2), which prioritizes mechanization, urging all Ghanaians and stakeholders to participate.

The President of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), Dr. Joseph Obeng, underscored the essential role of agriculture in national development, emphasizing its significance as a primary employer of Ghanaians. He encouraged industry players to leverage events like Agritech West Africa to explore new technologies and machinery crucial for value addition, import substitution, and the preparation of local producers for export.
