Agrimercarb tackles Ghana’s fish feed crisis with innovative insect protein solution
As Ghana’s aquaculture sector expands to meet growing demand for locally produced fish, so is the soaring cost of quality fish feed. At the center of this challenge is protein meal, the most expensive component of fish feed. Agrimercarb, a promising agritech startup supported by the Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC), is offering a game-changing zsolution.
Agrimercarb produces high-quality, consistent protein meal derived from black soldier fly larvae (BSFL), which are fed on locally sourced organic waste. This innovative model not only reduces the cost of protein meal but also contributes to sustainable agriculture by turning waste into a valuable resource.

Ghana’s dependence on imported fishmeal has long made the local aquaculture sector vulnerable to price fluctuations and supply chain disruptions.
