Madam Sandra Seyram Kpedor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Anloga, in the Volta Region has demonstrated her commitment to supporting local farmers by handing over assorted tomato purée processing equipment to the Agbledomi Farmers and Traders Association.

The move was to assist, empower and encourage Farmers and Traders Association to showcase the collaborative efforts to boost agricultural development in the district.

Madam Kpedor, during the handing over ceremony, said that the Agbledomi Farmers and Traders Association, which is women-led farmer group, would benefit significantly from the support which aimed to reduce post-harvest losses associated with tomato production.

“The processing equipment is provided by the support from Agro King Company, and it will enhance the association’s capacity to process tomatoes, create value-added products and increase farmers’ income,” she said.

She said the initiative was expected to create employment opportunities for the youth in Agbledomi and beyond and would contribute to the district’s economic growth and development to boost the local economy for the benefit of others within and beyond the district.

She explained that the gesture underscored her administration’s focus on empowering local farmers and promoting agricultural growth in the Anloga district and appealed to other benevolent organsations to prioritise the district and collaborate with farmers and other workers for the development of the area.

“This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance agricultural productivity, reduce poverty, and improve food security in the Anloga district.”

The DCE has also announced plans to extend similar support to other farmer-based organisations across the district to promote inclusivity and equitable development for all to be involved in shaping the fortunes of the district through agriculture.

Some leaders of the Agbledomi Farmers and Traders Association, GNA interviewed expressed gratitude for the support, which they believed would improve their livelihoods and contribute to the well-being of the community and reshape their business ideas for the best.

They appreciated the collaboration between the DCE Madam Kpedor, Anloga district Assembly, Agro King Company, and local farmers and described the move as a model for sustainable development and community empowerment.

They pledged to use the items for the intended purposes to benefit all in the community and appealed to other individuals, philanthropists, entities and the government to always provide timely and support to farmers when the need arise.
