Star Brand Company, a wholesale firm based in Zuarungu in the Bolgatanga East District, has donated items to the Assembly to support this year’s National Farmers’ Day celebration.

The items included 10 pieces each of leather student mattresses and pillows, two pieces of high density queen size mattresses, six pieces of queen size spring mattresses, 10 pieces of stand fans and a 32 inch digital television set.

The gesture, valued at about GH¢30,000.00, was in response to a request by the District Assembly to support this year’s Farmers’ Day Celebration scheduled for December 5.

Mr Ernest Adombire-naba, a Business Partner with the Company, who presented the items on behalf of Mr Ming Jian Lin, the Manager of the Company, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that the gesture was part of the Company’s corporate social responsibility.

“As a company operating within the District, we saw it necessary to support the Assembly towards the Farmer’s Day Celebration,” Mr Adombire-naba said.

He said the Company started operations in May, 2025, and indicated that “We are a wholesale company with agents in nearby Districts within the Region who market our products.”

Mr Adombire-naba explained that for distant District such us Sandema, Fumbisi and the rest, the Company may consider opening branches to scale-up their business across the Region in the near future.

He told the GNA that “For now, our consideration is in Bolgatanga East District, Bolgatanga Municipality and its surroundings.”

Mr Jacob Abugri Aka-Eri, the District Chief Executive (DCE), who received the items, thanked management of the Company for the gesture and called for more support from other Companies and individuals to celebrate farmers in the area.

“We least expected that they would have presented us with this quantum of products. We thank them for the support and welcome them to Bolgatanga East. We pray that their business flourishes for them to continue support our Farmer’s Day Celebrations,” he said.

Mr Aka-Eri acknowledged that the Assembly was not well-resourced to organize the programme, and buy items to award farmers, “So we rely on donations like these to make the celebration a success. This gesture has come at a time we really need it,” he emphasized.

He noted that even though the Common Fund was increased, the Fund was specifically meant for some policies without specific allocation for agricultural activities.

Mr Aka-Eri indicated that “As a new Assembly and a very small one at that, the Internally Generated Fund (IGF) is challenging to us, if we had a lot of IGF, it would have also helped.

“But because the market is very small, as compared to a large market like Bolgatanga, and the businesses in the District are small-scale businesses, Star Brand Company’s timely intervention is very welcoming,” the DCE said.
